Emergency Response Planning for Alaskan Families

About this Course:

Would your family be ready if a disaster hits your community? This course provides a simple plan for resource families to build a home emergency response plan and to know their responsibilities as a foster parent caring for a child in the custody of the State of Alaska. This course follows the American Red Cross and Homeland Security's preparedness plan of Make A Kit, Make A Plan, and Be Informed. Licensed foster parents who complete this course and its activities will have developed an emergency response plan that meets State of Alaska licensing requirements.

This course will help you learn:

  • How to put together an effective emergency kit.
  • How to develop an effective emergency plan that will help keep all family members safe.
  • How to prepare for the kind of emergency most likely to strike your community.
  • What you need to do to meet your foster care licensing requirements for putting together an emergency plan.
