Goal of this Course:
This course explores the effect of neglect on the child coming into foster care, the impact it has on his developing brain and body, and how foster parents can best meet the needs of the neglected child in their care.
Upon completing this course, the student will:

know how often neglect affects children nationwide and in Alaska

be able to define neglect

know how neglect impacts brain development, attachment, and eating habits

be able to identify common delays and effects in neglected children

know how to provide a structured environment in the foster home

be able to identify Alaska resources
