NOTE: You may wish to print out these instructions for further reference.
1. This course should take between 2 and 3 hours to complete. If you need a break between sessions, bookmark your page so you will be able to return directly to that page instead of starting the course over. The Bookmark function is located in the menu of your browser at the top of the page.
2. This course uses a Learning Notebook to help you learn the material. You will find a copy of the Learning Notebook page in the right hand column of this page and repeated at the beginning of each chapter. You need to only print this out once. Print this out at the beginning of the course and fill it in as you work through the material. Many of these questions will appear on the final questionnaire.
3. Printing out the Lessons: A web based course offers interactivity and involvement in learning. However, some people find it easier to print out each lesson and read it on paper. Look in the menu in the column on the right hand of the beginning page of each lesson (there are five lessons) to find a Printable Copy of that Lesson. However, the final questionnaire needs to be taken online. There are also some videos that will need to be viewed on line as well.
4. If you have any questions about this material, you may Email Instructor. An ACRF staff member familar with the material will be able to answer your question. The Email Instructor link is shown in the right hand column of every page.
5. This course uses web-based videos as part of its instructions. The written script for these videos has been included when possible. If you have a slower connection, you may wish to let these videos load before viewing to prevent the stop action that sometimes occur. To do this, start the video then press pause. You can track the loading of the video in the bar at the bottom of the video screen. When the bar has filled the track, the video is fully loaded.
6. For Alaskan resource families only: if you wish to earn 3.0 Training Hours Credit for completing this course, complete the "Check Your Understanding" Questionnaire at the end of the course and click Submit. (NOTE!!!: Persons using web based email such as Yahoo, Hotmail, or GMail may need to print out the questionnaire after completion and fax it into ACRF for scoring. The Submit Button does not work with web based email programs! ) Each parent can complete the course for credit, but individuals can receive credit toward training requirements just once for completing this course.
